Thanks Guys
Amazing how you get used to seeing him every morning and now it's over. Such is life.
Give your dog a pat and a Smacko today and enjoy him/her.

Really sorry to hear this Benny. I lost my Golden Retriever a couple of months back and I did have to hold her as the vet put her down. Worst experience of my life so I know how you feel. Just remember the good times you had with him.
I really feel for you mate.

Sorry to hear the bad news Benny.
Lost our Lab. a few years ago, he was 14. Got a tumor in the guts, I held him while the Vet put him down, one of the sadest days of my life. Still think about him nearly every day.

Thanks guys, I lost Boris the boxer cross about 7 years ago, he had a tumour and couldnt get around as he kept tipping his head upside down, loss of balance I think. We were lucky that the vet came to our house and we spoilt him rotten the whole day with all his favourites eg ice cream and chocolate knowing it wasnt good for him but what the hell.
Held him on his bed looking out at the garden as the vet did the job. Watched him fade away then carried him out to the vets car. Still bring tears just typing this. So glad Rocky went peacefully in his own time.

Why do we do it?
Breaks my heart. Rocky is gorgeous.
Sad and sorry am I too.
Glad you had a great friend.Don't pass them by! Be daring and caring!
Dampen their misery....sit with them and talk a little.
Buy them something to eat and a tram fare to a local mission.
I'm so lucky that I've somewhere to live and have family support.

Benny,
I lost my best pal, Gus (a Catahoula Hog Dog), a little over a year ago....he also had Lymphoma.
My wife and I were closer to this dog than most blood relatives.
I know how you feel, if it's any consolation to you.
My sympathies and condolences....
---Tom

sorry your lost your mate
As an owner of three beloved animals that filled our lives with love in abuntence, and loyalty I can only say I know the loss and hurt your feeling at this time. You think your going to have them around forever, you curse them when they don,t behave the way you wan,t ...when you wan,t but the moment passes and you calm down, your frustrations dissapates......what your been angry about doesn,t matter in the big scheme of things when you look into the inocent face of your beloved mate.and friend who really doesn,t understand what all the fuss is about..after all he has only one thought that comes in abundence ....and that is the love he has for you and the aim to please you.The only conselation I can offer at this time which may be of some comfort is the knowledge of knowing that you were kind and loving to ROCKY whilst he was alive, and you did every thing that was expected of you as an owner when it counted. You will never forget your little mate for the good times and some of the bad times as well ,but when you think of him you will think of him with love. .......so sorry for your loss blackbird1
