RIP Penny
Just had one of the hardest mornings of my life. My 13 and a half year old female Golden Retriever was put out of her misery, she is finally pain free. She has been part of my life for all but 8 weeks of her life. Along with her mate Monte (who died nearly five years ago) they will be missed so much.
They saw me through my marriage breakup and divorce, my five years of living alone and the acceptance of my partner.
Their love and affection was unconditional and freely given. They were such an integral part of my family and I miss them so much.
This is a photo of how I like to remember her.

Thanks guys for the kind words. It's kind of hard when you lose something precious that has been with you for 25% of your life. Today is the first day I've been home alone since she went. It's been a tough day but the hard day will be Wednesday or Thursday when her ashes come back

Hopefully she is coming home today (her ashes) and her urn will be placed next to Monte's.
Here is a picture of Monte who died 5 years ago.

beautiful
Bob. Your pics bring me to sniffles.
I'm sad.
But it makes me smile to see the close up pics of your mates smiling at you.
Unconditional love forever is what you have. What wonderful gorgeous freinds they will always be. I love them both.
Lucky them. Lucky you!
Greatly missed. My thoughts for you.
Tony.Don't pass them by! Be daring and caring!
Dampen their misery....sit with them and talk a little.
Buy them something to eat and a tram fare to a local mission.
I'm so lucky that I've somewhere to live and have family support.

Tony,
Thanks for your kind words, I really appreciate them.
Well I've finally got her home. Some of you probably think this is bizarre but the impact they have had on my life is immeasurable.
Here is a picture of them back together again.

Bob
I'm glad that your two mates are back together - remember they'll be waiting for you at The Rainbow Bridge.
Having them back is not 'bizarre' but a great testament to the unconditional love that comes from such lifetime pals.
You at least have the benefit of a tangible memorial - there have been a few times recently after I lost one of my dogs about 9 months ago that I have remembered the joy and life he brought and had a quiet little cry while laughing as I remembered his antics.
Remember the good times from Monte and Penny and the loss will reduce (maybe it goes away - I don't know about that yet but I hope not - even after 8 years or so I miss my old gal and smile as I remember her gentle ways).Regards
Rob
