Default Advice needed on Tiger maple

    Hi Gents
I aquired a boopk some time ago called "Glen Huey's" Illustrated Guide to Building Period Furnisture, i love the book and the items that he builds in their.
As i love the look of the timber I have tried for some time to find some one in Australia that may be stocking itm but to no avail as yet.
I know that there are a lot of Australian timbers that are very nice but in my house I have an American Oak kitchen, Pine cuboards, Sydney blue Gum vanity, Ceder steps, Jarrah tall boy and bed side cabinets so I have a lot of different timber in my house.
So if any one can help me please.

Birdie - if you can get hold of some figured Qld Maple, it's a good substitute. You don't seem to get as much regular fiddleback in Qld Maple as you do with "real" maples, but it is in the same spirit. It can be very busy stuff, but nice (not so nice working with the wild-grained stuff - sharp tools & take it steady!).

Here's a desk made from highly figured Qld Maple -

    Thanks IanW
That just looks like what I want, I did price some Birds Eye Maple some time ago and it was selling at 18 thousand a M2 I neally died.
I have heard of Fiddle back maple before and I think I can get it from Trend Timbers.
I found a place in America who sold Tiger maple and he said he had sent it to Australia once but was to much trouble.
Thank you very much for all your help.
