Default Uses for small amount of QLD White Cypress?

I was at my usual timber yard this morning when I came across some white cypress. Approximately 2m long, 80mm thick, 120mm wide, very attractive. It was too interesting to leave there.

Generally I make and sell cutting boards and serving platters - my first instinct was this was no good for either of these uses because, while being incredibly hard and incredibly beautiful, is also incredibly resinous. The end grain in particular is smashing. My second thought was Camphor Laurel is also odorous, but people still use it for cutting boards...

What would everyone suggest I do with it? Have been thinking about resawing it to make jewellery boxes or similar, but for a craftsman I'm not very creative and that's about all I can see myself doing with it.

My other thought was just to make it into an end grain anything to show it off, but I do like things to be functional and if you can't use it to cut food on then it seems a waste.

Please hit me with your thoughts.

    Putty.

Perhaps book matched, end grain place mats or drink coasters.

This is what I have been working on the last week or so.

The timber is end grain slices of Acacia Baileyana, so nothing special.

They are not finished yet, but will be place mats if everything works out, otherwise fancy firewood.

Hey mate, sorry I don't get on here as often as I'd like. They look spectacular.

I ended up using it with some Huon pine to make a hallway table. I'll post some pictures of it when it's finished, shouldn't be too far away. Only my second crack at a proper framed structure (I've made a couple of very basic coffee tables before but mostly it's just cutting and serving boards).

My joinery needs a lot of work but with practice it will get better.

    Thanks and again, great work.
