Default Best Aussie Timber for Rocking Chair.

As the title suggests, what are some of the best Australian Timbers for a Maloof Rocking Chair?

My goal for this year is to build one following the Wood Whisperers videos/plans.

Furniture grade Hoop pine is such a pleasure to work with as is Bunya pine.

Any of the timbers called Tasmanian Oak would be good.

Aus. Red Cedar if you can get it. Queensland Maple would make a really
    nice chair.

I recently completed a Maloof rocking chair I did'nt want to go and purchase any wood for it until I was confident I could build one so I used some Mango I had around with accents being in blood wood. It actually turned out bettwer than I thought it woulld and that doesnt happen often. I purchased a set of instructional DVD,s from a guy called "Scott Morrison WoodWorker" in the statestIMG_0017.jpgIMG_0024.jpg hey are very comprensive and come with some full size template drawing. If you ellect to do it this way you will also have to buy three sepcialised router bit from the states for the Maloof Joints they are (1) 5deg posiuted guide bit (1) 5deg negarive guide bit and one straight guide bit.

I hope this assists you in some way
