Bocoa prouacensis
Hi Folks,
Bocoa prouacensis produces an extremely dense timber: ~ 1.30g/cc. It was discussed on older threads:
Bocoa prouacensis
Timber Density: French Guiana (Guyane)
The Genus Swartzia
Well, strangely, it is now available in small turning squares from a store in California - not the importer.
2" x 2" x 12" Suriname Ironwood Turning Squares | Tropical Exotic Hardwoods
I have contacted the importer and asked if he could supply lumber. He has a bunch of this timber in the US and is heading to Suriname soon. Who know's what he'll ship back. In any event, Bocoa prouacensis is one of the densest timbers from the Clade Swartzieae. Maybe we'll see more than small turning squares for sale soon.

Just had a look back at some of your old posts. One forgets just what a great collection of timbers you have brought to our attention.
