used to mix creosote with sump oil and then some terebene (drying agent, otherwaise it stayed sticky). Mixed it by the 44 gallon drum. used for fencing, house, buildings, etc. Loved the smell.
Sap replacement method works but only feasible for small things that you could stick in a 44 for a while and then end for end it and do the other half.
I suppose that one could dig out a pit for bigger things. Dunno how creosote, sumpoil go with plastic liner though.
Doesn't creosote play havoc with bare metal? I was wondering what would happen if those end caps had been scratched at all and exposed to wet creosote.
