Pernambuco would be the common name for the wood, rather then Pau Brasil which I am assuming to be the common name for the tree.
Cites listed now, and there can be a significant premium attached to a good pernambuco bow however as with all things wood there is a lot of natural variation between bows.

That may well be the case in the English speaking world as the tree was once common in the Pernambuco region.
In my trips to Brasil ( my wife is Brasillian.) I sought out any chance I came on of seeing these trees. The locals
always referred to it as pau Brasil. Only ever saw two fairl small specimens at about 3-4 m.
