    Default Deep Yellowwood

For the benefit of those that haven't seen this stuff before ...
Deep Yellowwood (Rhodosphaera rhodanthema)...also commonly known as "Yellow Cedar" (its bark identical in appearance to that of Red Cedar)
Very stable timber if quarter sawn and often with figured grain
One of my all time favorites...hope you like the pics folks...MM

Looks great. Yellow Cedar is getting very hard to find these days.

I remember sitting around a fire at Melany years ago and big Stan was burning some . I managed to save some and still have it around here some where

I know that this is an oldish thread, but I have a need for a small amount of extremely yellow wood similar to this for trimming.

Is there any place where I can get some?

Or is it like the proverbial chickens teeth?

    TIA

    Hi George,

Yes, its getting hard to find now. But is is around. If you live in Vic and are near Melb you are in luck my stock is in Warragul. I have some boards and (most natural edge and some 100 x 100 sections too. It very pretty golden wood with pink streaks. I don't have a buzzer to clean up this old stock and remove the dust but its well seasoned. I can clean up some with my bandsaw to show you the colour and quality. Also can provide a indication of sizes etc by PM if you remain interested for some small furniture. Most boards are rough sawn and about 2 m long and 150 mm wide from memory.

PM me if you want to know more.

    Thanks, Euge

edit / addition: Its also called Tulip Satinwood. (I also have some Australian Lignum Vitae, Premna lignum vitae, from same source .Called that for its greenish grey heartwood. Its also called Hollywood.)
