Any experts on OSB??
G'day,
I scored a packing case made of OSB (oriented strand board) which I am using to line a part of the garage, The OSB looks really good.
I noticed that there a lot of splinters in the board and it is very hard to plane a bit off to make a tight fit in a frame.
Has anyone used this stuff? I am thinking the name should be changed to SOB (son of a bitch)!!!

You might have to use a butchery tool like a belt sander?

Sand it and seal it, planning will not work as the grain is every which way.
If you don't have a belt sander, one of the carving disks on an angle grinder should work. And do seal it, it is usually fairly water resistant - or at least the half pallet I had was, but it does eventually start to come apart/flake.

Taming OSB
Thanks for your tips on OSB. Using the belt sander was the trick - using an electric plane was no good. The other thing is the OSB has a lot of fine splinters so gloves are essential. The pics show were I used OSB to fill in panels in the garage. The OSB is interesting to use but it is hard to nail or drill as the fibres don't provide much grip. But I am very happy with the final result.
