Not quite, only your life force, Lig. Presence of the rest is neither mandatory nor desirable.

Like TTIT said what ever grows on trees. I'm new at the game, so there's lots I've not worked with...yet. So far I'm particularly fond of figured maple. I can get lost in the figure.Attachment 51891

    ps:hope I did this right

Too many choices. I've been using various kinds of kauri lately (recycled NZ, Queensland, and Malaysian) and I've really been enjoying it - nice colour and figure, easy to work, a delight to plane. Dents easily though.

I love the smell of woods like white cypress and huon pine.

I like fine-grained stuff like Swiss Pear and English Boxwood when making model boats.

I love recycling timber - you never know what might be under the paint, grime, weathering etc. It makes it a bit of an adventure.

I love radiata - it's great for getting the fire started.

Red mahogany would have to be my favourite timber, closely followed by forest red gum. I haven't used it yet, but I suspect that albizzia fastigiata might become a fave, if it remains as stable as it has so far and the colour is just incredible. I love quarter cut silky (G robusta) for its figure and workability.

Every new log I cut is an exploration, because each one is unique. It's a joy finding out what they hold inside.
    Cheers,
    Craig
