Greenie client
I got a hippie client that wants a deck built but doent want to use treated pine for the frame etc. She wants spotted gum or iron bark for decking but what can i use for frame apart from hardwood. I heard LOSP is crap. What is that red painted 'termite' timber. Does the red paint protect against rot? Any suggestions to keep her happy? cheers

Why what is wrong with using Grey Ironbark or spotted gum, GIB is class 1 and SG is class 2 durability. If you keep them out of the ground you have no worries. 25 -40 years lifespan if well built.
You don't have a hippy client , you have a well informed client.

except if they are hippies bleedin thumb, then they should reject those timbers on the basis of the logging of native forests - I know there are spotted gum plantations around, but I'm not sure you can buy it yet as plantation grown?

Well you've got me there...unless you consider selective logging sustainable.... but lets not go there...

There's always urban salvage. If they were in Brissie, I could supply in both spotty and red ironbark.
