Burls have always interested me and I've always wanted to see how they grow. I've been watching this one on an Apple Gum (Angophora floribunda) and when I first noticed it back in June this year it was more a lump than a burl but it had that burlish bark look (sorry no photo).

In Sept I noticed it had noticeably grown into a small burl ~150mm dia x 100mm. The bark had been pushed out splitting in 3 parts so I took a photo.

This photo is from today and it is still oozing sap/resin on the cracks but doesn't seem to have grown anymore.

I plan to continue watching for years(?) to come, taking photos when it noticeably changes size, to see if it grows only in Sept or just in spurts whenever it feels like it. It may be an easy access burl but it's too small for anyone to take as with the thick bark probably only 20-30mm of wood anyway.
