    Default Help Needed PLEASE

Hallo all I don,t know if this is the right place to write this but I am writing this for my husband who is in hospital after his work shed burnt down. He tried to save his shed but ended up with smoke inhalation and slight burns to himself.Every thing that he has collected over the past twenty years went up in smoke and he is left with one hamer in a screwdriver. He is totaly devestated and totaly depressed.Over the years he has given away hundreds of carvings and toys to any one who needed them .Now he is in need.If any of you have any pieces of wood or carving tools that you could spare I would be forever greatfull As my husband being too pigheaded would never ask,but it worries me and he needs help and I know he would be the first one to give to others,He will be releast out of hospital over the weekend so if it is possible please don,t let him know that I wrote this With sincere thank you. Gail

Sorry to hear of your hubbies plight. Hope Karl doesn't let it stop him tinkering. Reckon I'd be more than just depressed if my shed went up in smoke.
If Tom is passing by you on his way back this year, I'll throw a few bits and pieces together to go with him.

Definitely every woodies worst nightmare. My thoughts are with you both, and well done to you, Gail, for making an effort for your husband.

I don't do carving so don't have tools or blanks to give away, but if someone wants to organise a whip around I'll contribute. I've no idea how we'll do that. Maybe we could contribute to a pot at the local tool shop?
    Cheers, Richard

    Unhappy

    Bugger!! Not good!

    Glad Karl will be OK.

Don't have any carving timber or anything really associated with carving.

Mr. Hancock's idea is a sound one.

    Default Thank you

Gday All Well i am slightly roasted and glad to be back home,My appologies for gails posting because I belive one,s trouble,s should not be this forums problem .But A great THANK YOU to all.Unless you have been through this you just cannot imagine the heartache when you watch everything you have (Tool wise) go up in smoke. At the moment I have One hammer two screwdrivers and my son just bought me a new sander so now I am starting at square one again .I went through the shed and found my carving knives so I started to put new handles on them. When I had my shed It would take about one hr. to make a new handle now it has taken me two days to make three, but at least I am doing something As Gail say,s on to bigger and better things .Thank you all again Karl.P.s just got to love the wife

Sorry, Karl, I disagree with you! One's trouble's are definitely the forum's problems. I think this is a very good place to be able to share whatever's on your mind.

Mongrell, I'll call Carbatec and get back to you.
    Cheers, Richard

Didn't get chance to contact Carbatec today and I'm off to the UK for 10 days, so I'd be happy if someone else wants to take this on, otherwise, I'll be back on the forum in a couple of weeks.
    Cheers, Richard

I'll help. But note, I'm not doing this as a Moderator here, I'm doing this as just me, a fellow woodworker.

Looks like I won't have a chance to catch up with rhancock before his trip, so I'll just wing it and hope it's what rhancock was aiming for.

If anyone wants to donate a little something towards a carbetec voucher for Karl, please let me know and I'll organise it.

    thanks
    Wendy
