Tas Oak, Vic Ash, Mountain Ash. None of which are species, all are generic terms for timber that is similar and marketed together. Some appears to have a pinkish hue. Specific species would be more difficult to nail down.

TA, VA or MA i don't think it is as I've machined and used all on occasions and it does not feel or machine like any of them.
    Thanks for the reply.

Those pics remind me of a board of Queensland Wallnut that I got at the Maleny wood expo about four years ago. What is left is at the daughters place. Could take some pics next weekend if you like.

My first impression was light coloured blackwood (malonoxylon), but with a washy picture. But not too sure?

Thanks all. A fresh cut end section and another close up of the face. It does have a tinge of pink through it.

Geez, based on post 7's photos I was going to agree with Cliff as it looked like Qld Walnut, but your extra photos in post 11 don't

Hmm, i would have to agree. I need to give it a name as I'm making a box from it so if nothing concrete comes up all call it QLD Walnut and wait for someone to take me to task

Oh yes thanks Cliff, didn't notice different poster. Hey pker, yours doesn't look like Walnut, but I guess just some quick grown stuff maybe.

Anyway, I think Cliff was on the money
