why not use blackwood? {acacia melanoxylon}
pretty much the same thing

Blackwood is a cousin of Koa both acacia.
Do you require tonewood for Acoustic or solid body.I can supply both.

LMI, Allied Lutherie and Stewmac stock it in the US but as pointed out in other replies Tasmanian Blackwood is a perfect substitute and a bit easier to obtain.
