Default MGP 10 timber species query

I've been buying 90x45 MGP 10 for building benches in the shed. Pretty cheap and straight and up to the sort of loads I'm likely to subject it to. As far as I can identify timber, it seems to be radiata pine.

The other day while at the builders supply place, they had 90x35 MGP 10 at $6 for a 3metre length so I bought a couple. It claims to be baltic pine. It's certainly a much lighter colour that the stuff I've previously bought.

I appreciate that the MGP 10 label refers to strength/stress but it is usual to use baltic pine for this stuff?

yea for some silly reason they are importing baltic pine by the ship load from europe, we have got a heap of radita in Aus/NZ but its cheaper to bring Baltic in.

That would explain the German language information printed on some of the lengths

MGP stands for machine graded pine. It doesnt say which pine.
