Hi Pete, I forgot to mention the bee thing. A native beekeeper friend of mine reckons he'll lose half a hive if there's a cadaghi close by, so he's always on the scout for clear areas. They're becoming very hard to find around Brisbane.

It can collapse during air drying too, especially close to the heart and it can be incredibly brittle when dry. I've had 4x2s with little apparent defect snap in two through being dropped onto a concrete floor. Traditionally it's not been a building timber, except in heavy sections and rounds. The other problem, at least down this way, is that it's hard to find one with a long clear barrel, since they're very often polled to promote spreading of the canopy.

As I said though, with a bit of sympathetic treatment it's a very nice timber and it works well.
