    Default Olive Tree Stump

You know when you have one of those "cripes, what are they doing with that" moments? I had one of those today.

Was driving past an olive grove and the owners were ripping up olive trees and placing them in a pile to burn at a later date. Not one to pass up an opportunity like this I piled one of the root balls plus large section of trunk into my tiny Astra. Believe me, I would of tried to fit two in if I could of. Think I'm going to have to make a couple of trips if I can.

So, brains-trust, now that I have one of these, what do I do with it? Apart from giving it away. I'd like to prepare it for turning, therefore does anyone have any suggestions?

By the way, I can give you the location if you PM me however the owners did say they would like any prospective pilferers to get permission to take first. Sorry, didn't get a phone number.

Scott, power wash the root ball while the dirt is still soft. Then decide where to cut etc.

Yup, wash it NOW!. Then take some sneaky little cuts of the sticky-out bits & check the patterns inside.

I've got a Karcher which I've just finished using on the stump and have taken a peek at the patterns which are amazing. Can't wait till the thing dries, going to be well worth the wait. I haven't got a towbar or trailer because trust me, I'd be hauling back a nice little booty.

    Great score

Sounds like it is time to team up with another forumite with a towbar and big trailer . If I was down south with mine, I'd be there in a flash

Hmm, let me work on this, think I have a solution. From viewing the paddock there were at least 20-30 stumps. Hope I can get some to share round.

Get a group together and offer to take the lot for him . Save him all the bother of cleaning up after the burn, save on greenhouse gasses, doing a good community deed etc etc.

If all else fails, I'm sure some forumites would be willing to offer a few bucks each to take em away.

I'll be down in October if you can wait .

    Cheers

Went back this morning with borrowed car and trailer and to my dismay, everything went up in smoke early this morning

They do now, I forgot to add I left a note in their letterbox with my phone number on it. I resisted the urge to add choice words about their state of mind.
