Wanted, old blackwood, straight and flat, at least 1800 x 900 for a table top. I'm willing to take it off your hands if you pay me for the trouble. (I may even consider picking it up, but if you live too far away, you'll have to deliver it)

It ain't free but it is pretty cheap.

There's a bloke up at Oxford Falls in Sydney that sells old Oregon.

Mostly it's come out of the roofs of demolished houses.

It's been mostly de-nailed but I'd run a metal detector over it before I put it through any machinery.

PM me if you are interested and I'll see if I can dig up his details

I thicknessed 2 nails - second piece of timber I put throught the brand new machine. Carefully inspected, found two seemingly innocent empty nail holes in a bit of matai flooring - broken off nails were buried in there. I now have a nice "Lumberwizard" wot does the detecting now!

Ah yes, I bought my metal detector after completely destroying a brand new Henry Bros 1"x 1.3TPI band saw blade.

Shayrebel has a thread on this board. He's got a stack of Oregon to give away to the first person who buys his thicknesser

    Cheers,
    Andrew
