FenceFurniture, you have taken tool "pawn" to an entirely higher plane. I definitely do not need a Nail Kicker.

The video shows it working great on pine. How does it work on real hardwood like jarrah or blue gum?

    Cheers

They are all Gummus Genericus, but the colouration makes for interesting projects.
Are you suggesting a buyer at B's made a mistake and didn't source crap?

Mine is a smaller unit and I use it to remove rusty 3" nails from old pieces of 2x4 hardwood framing.

Maaaaate, 60 year old 4x3 and 4x2 joists (as in the building was 60 years old when renovated and I scored the timber). Nasty Norf Coast hardwood. Been walked on by cool-climate beer swilling bowlers for 55 years. Tough life.

3" nails, not particularly rusty - still got their bite.

Let's just say I had to go around the yard - several metres from where I was working - with a magnetic pick up tool.

Blows them clean out around 80% of the time.

When I first got it I decided to do a test on some Douglas Fir that had a couple of nails to push out. Lined it up on the end of the bench, which has a sheet steel base. The nails were skewed into the timber and were pointing at the side of the bench.

PHUT DING! (followed by a shout of laughter) Okay, it works.

So this whole process was leading to something a bit more useful. I have now started 9 Box prototypes.

Peter, those loads that you so kindly helped me with were the cypress floorboards which found an almost immediate use (lining the shed interior, amongst other things). All of these palings have come from this street - about 4 or 5 properties inc this one.

Mind you, I still, ahem, have rather a lot of Cypress boards......and the floor joists that were under them.....and the bearers that were under them....and the studs that were on top of them....and the top plates.....
