    Default Paulownia Logs

My neighbour in the NSW Southern Highlands is cutting down 3 large Paulownia and asked if I wanted the timber. I don’t. Do you?
will need to be picked up by this weekend.
I haven’t seen but he said they are 1.5m through.

Let me me know you want it and what length logs.

No charge. No labour except maybe my tractor to help lift the logs.

    Cheers
    Phil

Paulownia dries rapidly and without too much degrade...very stable stuff.
    Though best quarter sawn!
Also often displays nice figure (fiddleback) around crotch sections
A tree this size will produce lovely timber and high recovery rate
    Well worth the effort folks...MM

Would be happy to take them, but a bit too short notice for use. We are already committed elsewhere. If time frame can be extended we could work something out.

The main problem is that they are located in a landscaped area next to their house. How much are you interested in, what size logs and do you have equipment? Happy to chat through with you if you PM me your phone.
    Cheers

Here's some pics (the 2 wider boards are quarter sawn) from a specimen around 1200mm D.B.H...you may not want to part with any of it now ...very pretty timber and from a mature tree the wood will be dense and less inclined to be 'woolly'...lovely stuff...MM

Thanks for the photos, you are right, I will keep some - the crotch pieces could turn quite nicely and I imagine that it will be a pleasant timber to work with. Excellent!!

    Gone.

The neighbour is very happy that the timber will be put to good use. Apparently excellent for surfboard blanks and plantation shutters.

Tried to do the right thing and save the timber from the chipper/firewood pile. Now in an embarrasing position with my neighbour as the person that said they wanted the wood has not turned up and is not responding to my calls/texts.

If you would like some please let me know.

    Cheers

That's disappointing to hear Phily. If I was down your way I'd take them no dramas, but therein lies the tyranny of distance.

Hopefully someone takes them, I've had an absolute gut full of seeing good wood turned into dirt.

Just got a call. Apparently equipment failure and not sure when it’ll get sorted. He’s fine if other folk want to take some.

    Any takers?
