    Default Quarter-Cut Oak Veneer

Does anyone know of availability of this veneer anywhere in Australia. See attached photo of lower shelf of small table. Table top (abt 600 x 600) needs veneer replacing. Only supplier I have located so far is Oakwood Veneer in Michigan USA.

May have some in veneer i'd have to search but I know I've got it in solid if that is any good to you.

Can machine it thinner if you need.

    I'm at Jimboomba.

    Cheers

    Default Quarter-Cut Oak Veneer

    Hi Steve

Thanks very much for the response.

The species of oak I am looking for is white oak. Apparently you get those wavy patterns when it is quarter-cut, as per the photo I submitted earlier.

Would you be able to advise if that is what you have.

    Thanks again

    Regards
    Sam

Also known as'Wheel of Fire" tree (Stenocarpus Sinuatus),as they produce the most brilliant red flowers in whorls...it is endemic to the forests of North Queensland,so might pay to contact a few of the remaining mills up there..try Gadgarra sawmill,at Gadgarra, which is near lake Eacham,on the Atherton Tablelands(owned by the hapgoods),if they don't have it in stock, they should know someone who has..it is a fairly rare and obsure species though....also,the alternatives could be Cardwellia Sublimus,Darlingia Darlingia,Stenocarpus Reticulatus,(also known as Northern Silky Oak,Brown Oak,and Black Oak respectively) as they are very similar in colour and have prominent medullary rays...Cheers MM .
