Recycled Cypress for Furniture
I have been looking for a suitable timber to build a frame and paneled wardrobe. After near suffering a heart attack at the price of new timber I started searching salvage yards.
I have found some recycled cypress in a yard on the Sunshine Coast. The boards are 250 x 50 dressed and have a clear finish on them so I am able to pick boards with few knots and blemishes.
Is it suitable for this type of project. I will have to resaw and machine it to the profiles I want to use.

Leave it unfinished inside & the cypress fumes will probably keep the moths away.
cheersAny thing with sharp teeth eats meat.
Most powertools have sharp teeth.
People are made of meat.
Abrasives can be just as dangerous as a blade.....and 10 times more painfull.

Is pretty heavy for a furniture timber, and has tendency to split when nailing. Drill all holes, even for the usual self driving screws. Usually lots of knots too, so can be difficult chiselling joints.
