Default Repairing Dents in a Polished Wooden Floor

Help! We had a our floors polished 6 months ago with a high gloss polyurethane. We just had a party and a few of the boards have been damaged by stiletto heels. It is a fairly small area so I am wondering if I can patch it in some way rather than get the sander back. Could I putty the dents then go over the boards with polyurethane, or can I will another coat of polyurethane alone be suffienct to reduce the obviousness of the tiny little trail of heel marks? Any other ideas?

it's the nail in the heel that does the damage, Putty or any other filler will probably just come out as the dents r most likely shallow, a casting resin or something that sets hard might work maybe even if u filled up the dents with the gloss poly a dent at a time by a drip or two at a time let it set and repeat until level sand and recoat the floor a bit time consuming tho...will be interesting to see what others think...get everyone to take there high heels off

I hesitate suggesting this because of the poly - but, trying might still work. One method of reducing dents is to swell them out using water (you can see how the poly may defeat this idea). Try a small puddle of water over the area (or if you are nervous, one dent) and allow it to penetrate, if it will.

I think hot water might be the go. Sand the area including the divits, place a towel or facewasher (soaked in boiling water) over the affected areas, then run a hot iron over the cloth, use plenty of steam. keep a close eye on the progress. It might work or it could turn into a renovator's delight. Best of luck old chum.

Can be problematic to repair marks like these.

Post your message in the flooring section of the Reno forums attached to these and someone there should point you in the right direction.

I'm with Huon water cloth and iron. I take it that this is a baltic pine floor get hardwood next time my sugar gum floor has been down 15 years and still has no dints but the poly is worn in places.
