Rough cut 100 x 50 mmm pine wanted
I am making a few bee hive boxes for native bees and am constricted a bit into using the dimensions and timber sizes of an existing box that I need to match the new boxes to.
I have been searching widely in the Brisbane area for rough cut 100 x 50 or dressed 90 x 45 mm pine. However, it seems that everywhere that I look, I can only find treated pine, either CCA for external use or the green anti-termite treatment for internal use. Naturally, the bee hive boxes need to be made from materials that contain no treatments that are intended to kill insects.
Can anyone suggest where I can find a supplier of good old common, garden variety, 100 x 50, untreated, rough cut pine, please? I need only 15 - 20 lineal metres.
It has to be pine for thermal qualities since native bees need a stable temperature in their home. Hardwood has better weather resistance but, being more dense, it is not so good thermally.

Watt's wood and mouldings should have what you need in Hoop pine. Generally bee hives around S Qld have been made from hoop.

I built our dining table a few months ago using 90x45 framing timber from Rocklea Bunnings.

That's brilliant! Thanks!
I have never heard of Watts. Many thanks for the tip.
Yep - I know that Hoop is recommended but the one that I am copying is made of Cypress. I am not fussy either way.
Once again, many thanks.

Charleville, I have acres of Hoop Pine forest and a sawmill and it would be a pleasure to supply you with untreated natural Pine. Yes, I have spoken to other bee keepers who are on the lookout for untreated pine for their traditional hives. They are looking for 10 inch wide boards which is a bit more difficult to find.

Just for reference for other readers, I have responded to Bob via pm for his most desirable offer. Unfortunately for both of us, by the time that I read this, I had compromised and obtained some cypress and the hives are now almost finished. So, alas, Bob and I cannot do business this time. Hopefully, this thread and Bob's message will help others who are after hoop for the same purpose.
Many thanks for responding, Bob.
