Default End sealer - spray enamel 'paint and prime'

    Hi folks,

Went to end-seal some wet sheoak after cutting it down to reasonably sized blanks, and discovered I had finished my can of BP/carbatec end sealer.

Could always go and get some more, but I do have a spray can of british paints "paint and prime" enamel paint that I don't have other plans for - anyone have a theory if that will do the job?

    Cheers,

    Danny

I'm interested in this answer as I find that paint brushes really are a pain to clean (and I'm lazy) not to mention how hard it is to paint my uneven surfaces (not great with the chainsaw yet - but practice makes perfect)

Should work ok, you will need a few coats though. I use water based plastic exterior paint with a brush, get it on nice and thick.

I use spray tins regularly for smallish logs with no problems.

Well, just gave them a couple of coats and I'll put a couple more on tomorrow... Here's hoping - lovely timber, would be a massive shame if it all gets lost to cracking.

If you have nothing else, then use it, anything is better than nothing. Use quite a few coats though, I use 2 of the proper end sealer.

Parafin wax with ~5-10% bees wax is another good end sealer for turning blanks. I use a large electric wok to heat the wax
