    Default Slab identification help please

    Hi I'm beginning woodworker and my dad brought me these slabs from his friend in Minnesota. I'm not sure what they I hope these pics are good enough. One is brown and one is red/ orange with sap bleeding out. Thanks alot

    Looks a lot like hickory to me or maybe ash.

    Remember to post where you are... This is prediminately an Australia/NZ board. Being from Wisconsin may throw some folks off....

    looks like a pine. could be Douglas fir or ponderosa pine
