    Default Soaking timber through

    Hi,

It may seem strange but I need to make dry wood into green wood again (or as wet as I can get it). What's the best way? Steaming, microwaving in a container of water, just soaking. They're short thin planks of red gum approx 12mm thick and 200mm long.

I've tried microwaving them in a container full of water and after 10-15 mins they were still completely dry inside.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers.

This is a trick I heard about and I have no idea if it really works but apparently you soak the wood in metho first and then put it under water. The metho dissolves out into the water pulling water into the wood.

    Default Sugar

In small pieces you can put sugar in the water as well, it reverses the effect of sappy timbers pushing water back out (so im told)
