Default What Species of Pine is this

I know, (how long is a piece of string) I have a slab of pine which I aquired it is was about 3 metres long until I cut this lump off. Going by the radius of the piece I would say the tree was about 800 to 900 mm diameter across at the base. It has very few knots in it, what knots there are are quiet large 100 to 150mm at the base of the tree.
Photo 1 end profile this is 500mm wide and 150mm deep,
Photo 2 is looking at the grain from the top,
Photo 3 is a close up of the only piece of bark that was on the slab,
Photo 4 is a close up of a piece I cut from the bit in photo 1, it is 150mm x 60mm.
I dont think it is radiata that is why I have posed this question

    Thanks Rippa

could be silvestris, but more likely ponderosa. Certainly not Hoop pine though!

Certainly not hoop, the bark is nothing like it! Probably radiata, but maybe slash pine which also has a chunky bark. Slash pine timber has a heavier feel IMO.

Hoop pine bark isn't like that all the way down the tree, We've milled hoop pine logs at work so I know. (I'm probably thinking of a different specie though It's one of the ones we've milled before)

the bark looks like radiata if you could get hold of some cones from the tree that would help. the norfolk and bunya i've milled has a furry mat underneath the outer bark and the pics dont show this so i'm guessing it's not from Araucaria family

Default I'll just call it Pine

Thanks to all for your comments, I know it is not Hoop as I have a lump of that, it could be Ponderosa but still searching the webb for an answer on that, It dosn't smell like the Radiata that I have just finished making an office desk out of. and Carl I can't take a photo of the tree as it was cut down about 4 years ago so no leaves either. Also it doesn't smell like Cypress as I turned a little bit of that earlier this year.
I do have a Photo some where of the slab before I cut a piece from it, when I find it will post it here. Have found the photo so is attached I hope ??

    Thanks again for the information.
