    Default Tasmanian Myrtle

    I have just spent a most enjoyable afternoon with Malcolm Ward from Boutique Timbers, going through his numerous timber stacks. I came home with some Sassafras and some beautifully figured Tassie Myrtle. Malcolm mentioned that he was going to the Brisbane Wood Show at the Ekka in Brisbane in three weeks time. I have always found his prices to be very good. If you are going to the show and want a particular variety of timber, it may be worth phoning him beforehand. His number is 0265858276.

    Malcolm Ward just lives up the road, so I don't have far to go, to go shopping.
    I have always found Malcolm to be generous with his time and exceptional with his pricing.
    Not only that but he has a very wide range of timbers in stock.
    The Tassie Myrtle has some beautiful figure in it, and his price was $6 per super foot.
    A super foot is 12 inches long, 12 inches wide and an inch thick.
    I don't know what this equates to in metric.
    He is definitely worth contacting, especially if you are going to one of the wood shows.
    He said he was off to the Brisbane wood show in three weeks, so if you are going, and want some timber - give him a ring.

    That is $2542/ cu m. Seems a very good price to me.

    Default Bluegum slabs

    I forgot to mention that I noticed Malcolm has just milled some very nice bluegum slabs. They look to be 2 inches thick to me, so I'm guessing table tops etc.
    He also had some Huon Pine and Tassie Blackwood if anyone is interested.
