What Timber is This?
armrest3.jpgarmrest1.jpgarmrest2.jpg
The central photos shows a stained and polished armrest of an upholstered lounge chair that is at least 60 years old and was repolished about 25 years ago and chewed by our puppy about ten years ago. And now I want to get a Round Tuit! I first need to identify the timber and my research and smell-test suggests that it may be white oak and probably not cedar. The dowelled photo shows where a section under the armrest pulled up and exposed naked timber. The first pic shows the stained side under high magnification. I cannot see the end-grain but may need to sand it back to show the Forum.
Please tell me what you think it is and how you would repair teh damage.dave
nothing is so easy to do as when you figure out the impossible.
