    Default What kind of timber?

Hi all, just wonder what type of wood this is, has a bit of weight to it. Don't have and leaves or branches to show leaves. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

At a guess, desert ash. Only because I have some that looks similar to this that I collected a month ago.

I think that you will find that it is claret ash. from seeing some friends use it works nicely as inlays and bowls/ other turned/ cabinet pieces.

The bark on claret ash is not as thick or gnarly as desert ash. I have a whole tree worth of slabbed claret ash also.

Desert Ash on left and centre, claret ash on right

Desert ash on left, claret ash on right.

The timber looks the same or similar but the bark is the tell tail.
