    Default Timber ID needed

    Hey everyone,

A few months back i scored a rather nice little chunk of wood from an offcut bin, I'm pretty sure its an Aussie timber, and its partially labelled at one end with what looks like 'curly snake' (the snake part's been cut in half, so i've only got the top half of the letters to go on), leading me to possibly think it might be a small piece of Australian snakewood?

Just wondered if anyone on here might be able to offer their input?

Have no idea what it is but certainly nice bit of curly timber. Only a small piece but you should get a few very nice pen blanks out of it.

Fudo, I wonder if you got it from the Woodsmith at Croydon. Len had some very fine fiddleback Snappy Gum although this appears more orange than the timber I received.
I agree with the others, a lovely bit with great character.

I did indeed! Snappy gum sounds like a definite possibility...the 'p's in the scrawled label on the end of it dont have particularly big loops, but looking at them more now, it seems like they make better sense as 'p's' than the top half of 'ke' for snakewood.
    Thanks!
