    Default Timber ID ??

I got a fork of a tree some time back and just started slicing it up as part of my cleanup. The trunk had numerous little burls on the outside so I was hopeful of some interesting burl or birdseye grain but unfortunately it wasn't reflected in the timber. It is a relatively light timber with hardness similar to Mango, and indeed has a similar sweet smell whilst cutting not unlike Mango. The centre has a pale browny/white colour and the remainder a yellow (not sapwood). The bark was still attached but came off relatively easily shown in the last photo.

I'm thinking Aus Yellow Cedar (Rhodosphaera rhodanthema). Any ideas?

    Default

Mulberry (Hedycarya angustifolia) is another good option, the colour and bark are on the right track, but still different to the Mulberry I have.

Here's a shot of end grain, left this wood, right Mulberry. Colour seems good but big difference in the sapwood on the Mulberry.

Mulberry bark on left, this one on right. Certainly different, need to ignore burl but the Mulberry has more orange in it
