Timber ID Please
My neighbour had some trees docked last weekend and I collected a few pieces. Any Idea what this may be? The cut end were quite dark. I've included the bark in the picture. Its a huge things about 60cm across bottom and maybe 40 metres high, Has pine needle leaves. If a picture of the tree helps I'll get one. He's also thinking of having the whole tree removed. May need to find someone who wants to mill it and take half.

i am with SJT, a cedrus, prob deodara. The angle that the branches extend from the trunk can be a good indicator.
everything is something, for a reason:confused:

I'd go with a cedar though deodar is usually pretty gummy which should show up. I'm surprised there is no mention of the smell.
Cheers,
Jim
