Shiver Me Timbers is at 217 Kororoit Creek Rd Williamstown, they have almost every timber you can imagine, price varies but good quality and some rare stuff, old bollards from the Wharves etc. Check the Web Site www.shivermetimbers.com.au

Or Newport Timber on Maddox Rd for more "building material" type timbers.
Or else a bit further afield in Brooklyn on Somerville Rd is Market Timbers.
I've had unpleasant experiences at ShiverMeTimbers. Maybe it depends who you talk to, but their service was rude. Seems if you weren't buying 1000m^2 of recycled floor boards they didn't want to talk to you.
Market Timbers were much more respectful of the requests of weekend hobbyists like myself, and were able to dress timber to my specs.
n.b I have no affiliation with either.
And one more... for veneered boards there is a place in Port Melbourne (Williamstown Rd) whose name I currently forget - Cabinet Timbers or something like that...
I made a coffee table once and got the Vic Ash veneer from them, and the solid Vic Ash from market timbers.

I'd agree with that, as well, was after some stuff but only a small quantity, basically told me to go away you're not worth the effort. Australian Furniture Timbers in Port Melbourne on the other hand couldn't have been nicer and went out of their way to help, they suggested a few alternative timber types to try as contrasts, etc,

I can 'third' the rude treatment when only enquiring about a small amount of timber.

if you go to shivers, speak to steve. Let him know that you've got a general interest in recycled timber, he'll keep you there for hours. Top bloke

No blackwood sorry. Surely one of the mills up your way cut blackwood. I have elm and it looks very similar but easier to work with.
