    Default Timber Sale

I have just received this email from Grays. It is no use to me as I am in Victoria but thought someone in NSW might be interested.

no use to you cause you're in Melbourne?
    Are you insane ??

Mittagong is only 7 hours up the Hume -- the distance from the Western Ring Road to Mittagong is less than 750 km.
PUT THE CAR ON CRUISE CONTROL

No Ian, I am not insane. I already have more timber here than I am ever likely to use (look at my age) and am not really interested in slabs. I have been threatened with my life if I bring home more timber.
I would not be worried about the trip as my daughter lives in the ACT so I have done the trip up and down the Hume a few times.

I'm looking at some of those prices, and thinking if only ...

even at only 30% recovery -- converting those slabs to boards -- you're still looking at what is essentially "free" timber. Even fletty would likely spend more on fuel to get to and from Mittagong than he would buying some of those slabs.
