Timber suppliers in Gold Coast area
Hi,
I am new to these forums (and woodwork!) and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations on where to buy wood from the Brisbane to Gold coast area? I am looking to make some furniture for my home while I am on holidays and have only ever worked with pine. I was thinking of using tassie oak but am open to suggestions too.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Welcome aboard Kim.
What timber to use greatly depends on what you want to make, what equipment you have, and what colours you like etc. Simple Tas Oak is available from your local hardware, but other stuff is available from timber millers that are within these forums (check out our Market Place/Auctions), then there are the professional furniture type suppliers like Lazarides Timber | Brisbane Timber Specialists - Australian and Imported Timber.Neil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

Thanks for your reply
I will check out local hardwares (although I was wary of the quality and cost compared to other places) and also the link you gave.
Thanks again for the info!

Another option is Paradise Timbers at Helensvale (quite close to Helensvale Westfield). They sell mouldings/ballastrades etc for building projects but also stock a reasonable range of dressed timbers. It's a limited range compared to Lazarides but are definitely closer than Banyo (well for me anyway).
If you are adventurous, there are a couple of recyclers on the GC but they can be hit and miss. One I've used is on Lawrence Dr (opp Brendan Dr) Nerang.
And as dai sensei suggested - keep an eye on the Forum Market Place too.
