truffle wood - burl
Hi Neil no mate it’s not hardwood floor birch how can they put the word truffle to such a product if it is cut from the timber above the ground or may be manufactured to look like planks of wood ???.
The pictures of the wood I posted are of a wood that is found under the ground hence the word truffle
I’m really keen to know what it is now
Cheers Guy

I have been interseted in using timber from the roots of trees for turning. Sometimes in the transition area where roots become trunk you will find that sort of grain.
I've also noticed that on fallen timber where there hes been persistent dampness you will get soft punky wood, as is evident in your photo.
