    Would anyone know exactly what this veneer is?

    Would it be a Maple?

    maybe... but it's wee bit dark. and from a small log too.

    so i'm thinking a fruit tree... pear? maybe

    Pear, really? Wow. Would some varying photo's and sizing help? I think there is lots more than this too, 7-8 times more but I haven't got it here yet.

    Just to muddy the waters a little more, perhaps it could also be camphor laurel.

    From photo three, I would say that it is definitely camphor laurel.
    Are you sure it is all from the same tree?

    No, I'm not sure if they are from the same tree. But will get some more photo's of the rest of it when I get it.
