Veneer sellers?
Hi folks,
Now that I've almost finished our new entertainment unit and bookshelves (in finest Magnet Mart cheapo pine!) the missus thinks that our very dark veneered speakers are out of place. I was thinking of veneering over them with something lighter but need to ask a couple of things.
1. Is there any reason why I shouldn't veneer over veneer?
2. Where can I get something suitable that isn't some beautifully figured, fiddleback, birdseyed cost-a-packet veneer that makes me think I should be getting the whole tree for that amount? The only place I've seen around Canberra is Bunnings and they want about $70 per pack. I haven't measured this job up yet but I reckon I'd be looking at several packs.
Any ideas?
Cheers,
John

Glenn, Hem,
Thanks guys. Must admit to having bagged out Bunnings under false pretenses this time. I had a better look on Saturday and they do have some pine veneer sheets (1200 x 300 mm) at a much more reasonable $14 each. Must learn to be more careful ...
Cheers,
John

Timberwood Trading in Brunswick VIC.
Last time I got some iron on it was about $12-15 for 2.4m x 300mm. Non heat glued was about a dollar cheaper.
They stock many many species, I used Tassie Oak, but they certainly have Jarrah, and few of the exotics.
They used to be in Albion St but moved recently closer to Brunswick proper.Ray
