Default Anyone been to the WA forest commission auctions?

There's one coming up at the end of the month and I'm trying to decide if it's worth the drive down south. There's some lovely timbers on offer but I'm not sure what sorts of quantities they're sold in or if they're really popular with buyers. I'd be looking at getting sawn boards, likely just some Jarrah and Sheoak.

    Yes, I have!!!!

When I first moved to WA, I went every 3 months, cheap timber, foot long sausage in a foot long bun and free coke!!!! Woohoo, my limit was 7 sausages, didn't want to be greedy.

Anyhoo, the timber was quite cheap, but wet! Remember that, most timber is wet, needs proper seasoning prior to use.
Also, the auctions are a little different, the auctioneer is able to place a final bid on behalf of the vender. Means you think you just bought a slab for $100, but it may cost you $120 plus GST

You can also buy logs, chop them on site or they will hold them for a week or so

Good luck, we need photos too

Cheers Willy, that's what I wanted to hear! Not really set up for seasoning timber right now but I'll check it out in future for sure.
