If you think that that one tree was a waste then they are supposedly cutting them down in Nthn NSW to use in power stations and sugar mills as firewood.

They are using them at the local sugar mill up here which is a co-generation power station, they use camphor when the cane pulp has run out.

    A waste of camphor trees?

Not with the bloody things growing everywhere and restricting growth of the native species up here.
I like the timber and use it a lot, but I doubt very much the co-generation plant can use enough to eliminate them up here, in fact thats the reason they are asking for it, they reckon it is a sustainable source for them.

There are two of these plants, one in Condong (near Murwullumbah) and one at Woodburn (I think, close to there anyway)

Well I guess at least it's going to some use....

The reason I feel this is a waste is the timber has been turned to pulp and is going to be dumped. It's not actually being used for anything. Even for burning...

The second cogeneration plant is at Braodwater Sugar Mill, near Ballina.

    Hi TEXX

How often do you go to Toowoomba. I don't go there to often, but I have friends that I see all the time that live there and some who do the easter markets at Roma. Maybe I can get you some. I buy $500 worth a month but not suitable for turning. Let me know what you might want.

    No Promises

i go there every week normally wednesday .
500 bucks is a lot of wood specially when most of it the council put through the chipper .
i see them quite often chipping the trees in the main street and i almost cry as i drive past .
ill just wait see if i can score a log for free ( if i'm lucky ) might be able to get some from a non council tree lopper or some thing
