    Default Western Red Cedar wow!!!

It takes many years to grow a tree so I treat timber with a lot of respect. I often go out of my way to save a piece of wood. These Western Red Cedar door jambs will now be part of a new window.

WRC is the multipurpose tree here in the Pacific Northwest for 14,000+ years. It's cultural values cannot be underestimated.
My sole suggestion is to be fastidious about laying that wood on a clean surface. It dents very easily, a lesson that I learned many years back in wood carving.

One good thing about recycling it from another purpose, is the copies layers of paint on the surface over the years can be planed off revealing stunning grain. The paint can extend its life waiting for us to make something "new"
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

Lovely timber. Did you take the paint off in the thicknesser or remove it before putting it through the thicknesser?

No. I did most of the cutting on the tablesaw first, then jointer and thicknesses.
