Default Attaching the Triton to a router plate

    Router gurus,
The router table project is about to commence. I've just received the beautiful woodpecker router plate and I can't wait to attach the 2400w Triton. I know I have to remove the Triton's phenolic base plate but do I also have to remove the clear dust shroud as well? If the shroud remains it does not look as if I can raise the collet enough for the famous through-the-table bit changes. Any advice gratefully received.

    Cheers

    Pete.

Leave it on. I extract from above and/or below the table, depending on the bit used. Below-the-table extraction is done using the shroud.

Same here, I left mine on and have a Triton dust hose connected to the dust shroud, then to ShopVac or dusty depending on what I am doing.

If interested can post some pictures on Monday (woodshow tomorrow, concert in Melbourne Town Hall on Sunday!)

You can leave the dust shroud on Pete, the collet will raise through if the router switch is in the off position.

Thanks for the input guys. Problem has been solved. I was getting a little concerned because the Triton was fresh out of the box and the collet was stopping well below the level of the baseplate and the movement was jamming quite a bit also with no obvious problem. A close inspection of one of the plunge posts finally revealed what looked like a bit of dried or hardened something-that-wasn't-supposed-to-be-there. I carefully cleaned it off and gave it a bit of dry lube and all is wonderful with the world again.

    Cheers

    Pete.
