Thread: Should I buy a Sliding Extension Table?

I have found the Maxi Sliding table extremely useful with my Triton WC2000, certainly a vast improvement on the extension table for the Mk3!

In fact it is so useful that even though I am selling my WC2000, I am keeping the sliding table and adapting it to my new tablesaw, ala Strudee's mod.

Highly recommended.

In answer to the question in the title: YES - no question whatsoever. The only question is which size.

What do we think? Pretty much, the "must have" accessory (other than the height winder) for the workcentre.

Maxi vs Mini? Size (you have to fit it in the shed), without adaption it won't fit the router table (but there are ways around that - I posted a solution to that problem a few years back - someone is sure to do a search and post the link!), the maxi has holddowns, the mini doesn't, the mini is surprisingly functional despite its size, but the maxi is its equal, and better (other than fitting the router table). In saying that, I've never actually needed the extension table on the router table......

Selling? No - even those who have them and sell their workcentre seem to keep the table!!

Yes unless you intend buying a table saw with one fitted in the near future I have the old MK3 sliding table bought it when they first came out and have fitted it to the WC2000, don't use it that often but when I need it its there and works a treat so definately YES

Yes, get the mini ,I use it all the time as another bench top, it fits router stand and has hold downs if needed, would not be without it

You have a mini, AND holddowns? How old is it? (perhaps the new minis have the maxi holddowns now (if so - damned good thing))

Or perhaps I should be asking - what are you meaning by holddowns?

I got it from a bloke in Upper Fern tree Gully August 06, he also told me about the club.
See photo's ....there is one in and one out.

I'm thinking that he's retrofitted them - they are the same holddowns as the maxi, but I am still pretty sure they are not supplied with the mini. The fact you have the normal 'locks' and the ones with the holddown makes me even more convinced.

Cool to have - always thought the mini should have them! (Sure that someone wanting them for their mini could buy them from Triton spares, as have been done here).
