Clearance at the Green Shed
Bunnings Cranbourne had some Triton products on the clearance shelf (most under $50).
Don't get too excited, it wasn't anything big, here is what I saw:
2 x Wood Racks $57 each
ROS adaptor for angle grinder
1 x Cast Engineers vice for Superjaws
Circular Saw stabiliser
1 x Router adaptor plate
Nothing that was suitable for me at this time, but I hope this is useful for someone else.

As a long term lurker here, I must say this forum is a wonderful source of information on the Triton range and of course sales specials. Who can forget the steel cutter $140 give away, router bits at ridulous prices, the Bunnings router deal at $100, the Narre Warren green shed pallet sale. Hell there is a GOD.
Whoooo! My wife doesn't forget either, she has sent photographs of me to every Bunnings in Melbourne with strict instructions not to let me in. Have bought sunglasses and a hat.
Thanks to all those who have helped me lighten my wallet!!!!
Cheers and many thanks
Rick

A little off topic but what are your tips on avoiding scrutiny by the queen of thrift, the mistress of money, baroness of ear bashing, or the darling.
Mine in no particular order are:
Avoid using the credit card - she examines the monthly statements
Pay in cash - see above
Hide the receipts for large purchases - instant death if see finds your warranty stash!
Let her find the small receipts - she knows you bought something in all those hours you spent at the BGS, nails and screws are good.
Do not leave cartoons around with pictures of nice new tools all over the outside - fatal mistake.
Keep saw dust on hand to age new tools - camouflage.
Arrange for larger deliveries after you have dropped her off at the airport - some things should not be put to the test.
Do not rip out the new Bosch pro sabre saw to cut one tomato stake.
Any further hints for tool collector should be added below.......
Rick
PS do not let her see you reading this post!!!!!!!!!!

Psychology
Rick
Another approach is to let her see a piece of furniture etc that appeals to her or that is needed and then point out the poor workmanship in the item and how you could do a better job for far less in better timber ........ if only you had this new tool. It is now her suggestion to get the tool not yours.
Example:
We needed a new entertainment unit so took her to various furniture places. Everything was over priced, a Year 10's failed woodwork piece or made with copious amounts of cheap chipboard. All I need to produce a better job, in better timber and for much less is router table and finger jointer/dovetailer. Don't let on the price until she agrees. Also suggest that this will enable you to do a professional job of that wine rack your daughter wants for Christmas to go in her new house.
Another hint is to leave catalogs and brochures around for her to see. Subsequently I was asked if I wanted a Fein Multimaster for my birthday so that I could repair all of the windows in preparation for them to be painted. I now have the Multimaster, have started cleaning up a couple of windows, but find all of these other projects that also need the Fein. Once again, the projects that she wanted done became linked to this magical tool that would cause the projects to be completed.
Warning: You DO have to knock some of the projects off her list otherwise the technique ceases to be effective.
My next scheme is to make her realise how much more room, and how tidier it will be under our house if I build a dedicated workshop and move all of my tools there. Of course it would have to be big enough to build all of the projects she has on her list.
PS: Bit off more than I could chew the other day when we found this antique english oak side board for auction. There was no way I could make anything like it. Luckily it sold for far above our reserve. She reluctantly agreed that it wasn't meant to be. Have to stop her looking at antiques and more at achievable wood projects.

She and I went to closing-down auction of one of the local furniture retailers. They'd had for sale a nice-enough small mass-made-in-SE-asia shakeresque dining table we'd declined to buy for $250. We figured we'd pay up to $150 at action.
Opening bid was $200 and bids hastened past $300. We didn't even get the shot from the locker, as the World's Best Treasurer cum Rock Star might say.
It's on my projects-to-build list.

Very sound advice Rick, thanks
I know the thread is now truely hijacked, but if I could add some more advice regarding scrutany from "the real boss";
1) as Rick says always, but always pay cash;
2) I have a tin in our robe for coins. Each day I put small change in there. It adds up to a fair amount of money;
3) whenever I am caught and scrutanised I just say it was purchased from my "tin money". That tin has given me more freedom than you could ever imgine, and the little bugger never runs dry.....its better than a money tree.
4) I always drop my purchases at the front of the garage door, then go in say hi and then sneek it into the garage later. If the purchase gets into the garage undetected, it hasn't happened.
5) try never to be caught looking at tools on Ebay / other web sites....it creates an impression that you are in the market - also dangerous. You wouldn't be caught looking at a wife swapping site, so neither should you be caught looking at tools. BE DSCIPLINED, men!!
Good luck, hope this helps in some small way.
Anthony

Yes, always take dlivery at work
Once I was stupid enough to put our home address as the ebay delivery address ...... use your work address for ebay deliveries
Rick[/quote]
Rick,
Yes, thanks for raising that one. Delivery to work is very important.
I manage a site with a very busy warehouse. Sometimes the guys complain they do more receipting for me than they do our company.
Keep them coming Rick, we are doing some very good work here. This should eventually become a "must see" thread.
