Is GMC still alive?
I have been looking around the net and saw that the GMC website is still up with no news about going under. Does this mean they are back in operation and have their full range of equipment available?
Cheers
Paul

It hasn't changed at all, the same with the Triton site. Although Triton has a line "Site last updated ....." showing the current days date, which chanegs each day.

yes but the GMC site actually went off line for a while and has now come back on. That tells me someone is paying the bills.
I know GMC is selling again in Australia as retailers in the eastern states are buying it in container lots.
GMC are back.................good or bad who know's but I think its great for the competition in that segment.
Bravo to them I say.Eagle

ASIC website for GMC (ABN 97 077 791 872)
has listed 4/8/2009, Presentation of accounts & Statements of Accounts of Creditors. Voluntary Winding Up
Not exactly sure what it means, but would appear that is the end, unless they reinvent themselves with a new ABN

Noticed some GMC gear (cordless drills and router) in the current K & D catalogue - not sure if this is old stock or new??
Interesting to see what develops.

That ABN is for "GMC WORLDWIDE PTY LTD" which is winding up to "save cost"?
But "GMC Group Holdings Pty. Ltd." is still alive.
As recent as June 2009, HTC signed an exclusive agreement with it to distribute Triton Products in US & Canada.

Like all companies of note GMC had a complicated corporate structure. The actual operating company within that structure (according to my documentation that came with my tools) is GMCAT PTY. LTD. whose ABN is 68 093 174 808.
Asic website shows the following :
Extracted from ASIC's database at AEST 11:38:50 on 03/10/2009
Name GMCAT PTY. LTD.
ACN 093 174 808
ABN 68 093 174 808
Type Australian Proprietary Company, Limited By Shares
Registration Date 02/06/2000
Next Review Date 02/06/2010
Status ** UNDER EXTERNAL ADMINISTRATION and/or CONTROLLER APPOINTED **
Locality of Registered Office East Melbourne VIC 3002
Jurisdiction Australian Securities & Investments Commission
These are the documents that ASIC has most recently received from or in relation to this organisation. Page numbers are shown if processing is complete and the document is available for purchase.
Date Number Pages Description
04/08/2009 7E2350966 10 524J Presentation of Accounts & Statement Accounts of Creditors'
Voluntary Winding Up
23/06/2009 025664571 11 524N Presentation of Accounts & Statement Accounts of Receiver &
Manager
12/05/2009 7E2181180 3 525 Notice of Disclaimer of Onerous Property
Ofcourse the new company that bought the business would register a similar name to cash in on the remaining goodwill of the brand names.
GMC RIP.
Peter.

I was in K & D Cambridge (Mitre 10) yesterday and noticed that they were unpacking a heap of GMC tools.
The lady said that whilst GMC Australia was finished, the manufacturing company in China was still operating. However, as there was no longer a GMC distribution company in Australia, K & D were ordering container loads of gear directly from China.
She said it is unlikely that they will get the full range - I noticed mainly drills, sanders and jigsaws yesterday.

They are now called GPB - Global Power Brands and own Triton and GMC. They are doing spot deals for retailers in Australia until they are big enough to come back with core ranges etc for retailers.
