Accupak are a mail order battery re-packing service who advertise in the Australian woodwork magazines. You can specify higher capacity batteries too.

You might find a local guy who does it as well and E-bay is always good for batteries. Battery world and the like sell replacement batteries too, but they're more expensive.

    David,

You can do them yourself. Just order the cells over the net or you can get them from Jaycar, solder them up. If you don't feel confident in doing this then ring around the battery mobs in your area and ask if they have a repacking service.

I notice your in Vic so i can't help you there for any help on repackers.

When I priced doing it my self it worked out more expensive than buying an aftermarket battery.

You may think it is more expensive but not many of the aftermarket batteries are the high quality Sanyo Sub-C Nicads.

I had to repac an old Ryobi (couldn't get a replacement) and it cost back then $120 of Sanyo Nicads and it's still going today 5+ years later. The original battery lasted two years.

So as long as you can get the battery pack apart is it IMO worthwhile doing it.

If your charger handles both Nicad and NiMh it may be that you look at NiMh replacements.

From Jaycar NiMh 3.3ah are $8.75 each for 10+ which is the same price for Nicad

    Default Battery drill replacement

    Here's an alternative:

And, YES, I did find a handy pouchpack to carry the battery around in.
Should take another picture of the complete setup in action.
I usually get 6 years or so out of my SLA batteries (trickle charge is best) - so work out the costs on that!!!!!!

Well I have checked out this battery problem
You can buy the new battery cheaper than you can buy the batteries and pack them your self
I have purchase one new battery for my Bosch, should arrive Monday and I will be able to get some drilling done ,up the paddock where there is no power maybe I could have used the old brace and bit, but these battery drills spoil you WHEN THEY ARE WORKING.
you don't know how much you rely on these battery drills I have 4 different
battery drills and they are all dead

Has anyone tried the information on the CD you can get from USA for about $5.00 they say it is something like jump starting a car

    Regards

Yes ,this may be another method Inconvenient when you have to work up a ladder
I was talking someone the other day and he has a similar idea where he carries the battery in a shoulder bag to operate the drill ,he said the charge last about 3 weeks but how long is the bit of string
    Regards
